Ephemera: The Silence of the Envious
This a thread for feedback, discussion, critique, commentary, questions - anything related to chapter 4.
My thoughts: the title sounds pretty dire, but this is probably one of the most laid-back chapters in the entire story. I actually wound up over-editing it, I found; when I woke up today and checked the word count, just to see how much more I should shave, I discovered that it had somehow slipped to 6,600 words over the past week. WHOOPS. So one part in the story was added on at the last second, providing some exposition that'll become relevant later in the story. Bet you can figure out which part that was!
The new character, Bailey, annoys the shit out of me half the time, I won't deny it. Other times, she's extremely sympathetic; mostly, when she keeps her mouth shut, she is. One of my friends commented that she's the sort of character you either love or hate; I'm honestly not sure where I am on the spectrum, but I think it sympathizes heavily with Azrael's annoyance more than anything.
This is probably going to be the last chapter that is entirely self-edited. I'm restructuring my editing schedule so that I'll have a week after I do my edits to get new installments onto writer's forums and pass it by friends, so that I can find the edits that will turn out the best product possible for the amount of time I have to produce them in. Hopefully this will work out well; time will tell, right?
